Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Burnley have moved on from Mike Trésor. Instead, the side are looking at his team mate Joseph Paintsil, who was subject of interest from Leeds United during the transfer window. The Lancashire side had been in discussions with Genk about a loan deal for Trésor, which would have included a mandatory purchase option. With time winding down in the window, Paintsil now seems to be the more realistic target for Genk.

The 25-year-old Ghanaian winger had his best season since joining Genk during the 2022/2023 campaign. He scored 17 goals in 36 league games, while also providing 11 assists. So far this season, he has played four league games and provided two assists. He was also sent off during the sides Europa League qualifier against Olympiacos, which finished 1-1 and saw Genk knocked out. They are currently 2-1 up on aggregate against Adana Demirspor in the Europa Conference League.
