Premier League new boys Burnley have offered around £9million to sign Sunderland youngster Jack Clarke, according to reports.

Clarke had a tremendous 2022/23 campaign with the Black Cats and is now attracting interest from a host of clubs.

The 22-year-old broke through the Leeds United youth academy, making his debut for the Yorkshire outfit at the age of 17 in October 2018.

He then earned a £9.4m move to Premier League giants Tottenham in July 2019 after playing 28 times for the Whites.

It did not work out for Clarke in north London, however. He would only make four first-team appearances before securing a permanent switch to Sunderland in the summer of 2022 after a successful loan stint in League One.

Clarke spent time on loan at Leeds, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City before finding a permanent home in the north east.

And the young winger’s year in the Championship has done him the world of good. In 45 league appearances, he scored nine and assisted 11 as Sunderland finished sixth, losing in the Playoff semi-finals against eventual winners Luton Town.

Clarke’s fine form in the second tier has caught the eye of Burnley, who won the Championship at a canter last term.

Valued at £10.3m by Transfermarkt, Sunderland have received a bid ‘in the region of £9m’ for their 22-year-old star.

This is according to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, who says Burnley have made ‘multiple offers’ to sign Clarke, with their most recent one yet to receive a response from Tony Mowbray’s side.

Downie adds that Clarke is ‘attracting lots of interest’ after ‘a brilliant season’ in the Championship.

This means the ex-Spurs man could get another crack in the Premier League after failing to impress at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Meanwhile, Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has reportedly turned his attention to Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Jean Butez after missing out on Anderlecht’s Bart Verbruggen, who is set to join Brighton.

The Clarets have reportedly seen an opening bid for Butez turned down, but the 28-year-old has expressed a desire to take on a new challenge.

When asked if he feels now is the right time to change clubs, Butez told Transfermarkt: “Yes, Antwerp a rather open to sales and I’m keen to move too.

“I have to think about my career plan, about what could present itself. It’s special to say, but I don’t have a preference.

“There are positive things to take from each league. In France, because I’m French. In England, because it’s considered the best league in the world.

“Spain, for its football and the quality of life that goes with it. It’s also the project that will determine my choice. If the adventure with Antwerp continues, it will be with new objectives in mind, with the European Cup, with a title to defend, etc… It can be a season with great ambitions.

“But if there’s a transfer, it will be a new destination and a new league. In either case, only nice things will happen.”
