The Seagulls' attacker, who can play as a winger and a central advanced midfielder, has been on loan in the EFL before.

Spending the first half of the season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, he then made the temporary switch to Ipswich Town for the second half of the season and played a part in the Tractor Boys' promotion to the Premier League.

He scored some important goals during his time at Portman Road, with his last-gasp winner against Southampton standing out as a special moment for the Ecuador international.

Unfortunately for the 22-year-old, his game time at the Amex Stadium could be limited this season, having only come off the bench for a short cameo last weekend.

At 22, the player will want to be playing as much football as possible during the 2024/25 campaign, and a step back down to the Championship could give him the opportunity to do that.

Georginio Rutter's arrival may limit his game time, with the Frenchman able to play in an attacking midfield role and as a wide player if required, with his technical skills potentially allowing him to be a real asset out wide.

Burnley and Sheffield United eyeing move for Jeremy Sarmiento

The Clarets and the Blades are eyeing potential deals for the Seagulls' starlet Sarmiento, according to Alan Nixon.

The former are in need of more attacking midfield options following the departures of Wilson Odobert and Scott Twine, with Johann Berg Gudmundsson also thought to be on his way out of Turf Moor.

Scott Parker's men have enough options out wide at this stage, but the attacking midfield role is there for the taking and Sarmiento could be the man to fill that spot.

The Blades, meanwhile, have already got some very talented attacking players at their disposal, but Chris Wilder is seemingly keen to add even more depth to his squad before the summer transfer window closes.

Nixon believes both teams could even try to buy the player, even though the Seagulls are open to a loan deal at this point.

He could potentially be recruited for around £6m-£7m - and it's definitely a fee that Parker's side could afford considering how much they have generated from sales and how much they look set to generate from further player sales.

United, meanwhile, have money from player sales and an imminent takeover could be crucial for them in this race.

Burnley could be the ideal destination for Jeremy Sarmiento

The Clarets are in need of a central attacking midfield option, depending on the formation they decide to play this term.

A 4-2-3-1 system could be ideal for Sarmiento, who could play in the middle of the three, with two either side of him.

Whatever destination Sarmiento chooses, he needs to ensure that he's going to win plenty of game time.

This game time could potentially come at Turf Moor, but there are still other top-quality players in Lancashire despite departures.
