Burnley and Leeds drop Everton legal action after Prem talks

Burnley and Leeds United have dropped legal action against Everton over claims of breaching financial fair play laws (FFP).

The Premier League have informed both clubs that Everton's spending were within FFP limits, says the Daily Mail.

Burnley and Leeds contacted the Premier League at the end of last season threatening to take legal action for £200m due to the League's failure to take any action against what they described as Everton extravagant spending, which has led to them posting losses of £371.8m over the last three years.

The two clubs had demanded assurances from the Premier League that Everton's spending had complied within existing rules.

The Premier League have contacted both Leeds and Everton to explain why Everton have been cleared, with much of their spending exempt from the limits due to allowances made for investment in infrastructure and losses attributed to the UK government's lockdown.
