Torino President Urbano Cairo insists he hasn’t set a price tag on Alessandro Buongiorno, given that the Italy international is ‘not on the market,’ but he confirms he has received many requests from Serie A and foreign clubs.
Buongiorno has emerged as a primary transfer target for multiple clubs across Europe, including Milan, Napoli and Tottenham.
The 24-year-old made 31 appearances across all competitions at a club level this season and has been included in Italy’s preliminary squad for Euro 2024, but he will surely be among the players flying to Germany next week.
Buongiorno signed a contract extension until 2028 with Torino last summer so the Granata President Cairo is unwilling to sell him.
“He was included in the ideal XI of the top five European leagues,” Cairo told Sky Sport Italia.
“He is not on the market, so I haven’t considered his price. He has a contract until 2028. He rejected an offer from Atalanta, and I was happy with his decision.
“He is a Torino player and our captain,” continued Cairo.
“He is an extraordinary footballer. I haven’t thought about anything because I want to keep him.”
However, when asked how many teams inquired about the talented defender, Cairo admitted: “Many, in Italy and abroad, but I won’t reveal the teams because it would not be fair.”
Buongiorno made his senior Italy debut on June 2023 under Roberto Mancini and has collected three appearances with the Azzurri.
