In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?
Manu’s Game of the Week: Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen
My game of the week is Bayern against Leverkusen. Labelled the crisis derby in the German press, both those teams will be desperate for three points. Ultimately, I see some parallels to the England against Germany game here—Bayern will be coming out guns blazing, trying to assert themselves on Leverkusen, which, in turn, should give die Werkself space to counter and score goals. As a result, I think there will be plenty of goals in this game but also it is hard to separate the two teams, which is why I have gone for a high scoring draw.

Stefan’s Game of the Week: FC Köln vs Borussia Dortmund
Although it may seem like a pretty standard affair on paper, Dortmund’s trip to Köln should undoubtedly prove to be eventful. The home side are chomping at the bit to get back up the league table after dropping four points prior to the international break and considering Dortmund’s numerous injuries to key players, Steffen Baumgart’s side may smell blood in the water and go in for the kill. Either way, it should be a fascinating and entertaining match.
Scores after MD7: Manu – 33, Stefan – 29.
