Manu’s Game of the Week: Schalke vs Bochum

OneFootball Videos

There is some history here as for some time this was the actual biggest derby in the area. This was in the 1970s and 1980s when Borussia Dortmund struggled against relegation and Schalke vs Bochum was seen the big fixture. That is, of course, no longer the case today as both teams will be fighting against relegation this season. In fact, this could be a bit of a six-pointer in the relegation battle. Nonetheless, it is a great move by the DFL to make this the Topspiel over RB Leipzig against Dortmund.

It’s clear for all to see that all eyes should be focused on the Red Bull Arena on Saturday, where Marco Rose will undoubtedly be hoping to get one over the club that arguably left him high and dry before he was able to really get his feet under the table. Dortmund go into this match as the in-form team, but RB Leipzig may well benefit from the mythical “new manager bounce” following Domenico Tedesco’s departure.

  • Werder Bremen 2-1 Augsburg
  • Bayern Munich 3-0 Stuttgart
  • RB Leipzig 1-2 Borussia Dortmund
  • Hoffenheim 2-0 Mainz
  • Eintracht Frankfurt 1-2 Wolfsburg
  • Hertha Berlin 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Schalke 2-0 Bochum
  • FC Köln 3-1 Union Berlin
  • Freiburg 2-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Stefan’s predictions:

  • Werder Bremen 2-0 Augsburg
  • Bayern Munich 3-0 Stuttgart
  • RB Leipzig 2-2 Dortmund
  • Hoffenheim 2-2 Mainz
  • Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 Wolfsburg
  • Hertha Berlin 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Schalke 1-0 Bochum
  • Köln 1-2 Union Berlin
  • Freiburg 2-1 Gladbach

Scores after MD5: Manu – 27, Stefan – 22.
