Our Bundesliga Player of the Week put in a performance that has made him the toast of the German capital this weekend.
Union Berlin rocked up at the Olympiastadion, stuck four past Hertha BSC and painted the capital red.
Urs Fischer’s side boosted their European qualification hopes while sending their city rivals closer to the relegation trap door in a statement victory at a place they’ve called home themselves this season.
It was a stunning team performance from Die Eisernen but there was one man who stood out amongst the rest.
Sheraldo Becker will be ingrained into the nightmares of Dedryck Boyata and Marc-Oliver Kempf for weeks to come after giving the Hertha centre-back pairing the runaround on Saturday night.
He showed what was to come early on, speeding into the space behind the backline to get on to Grischa Prömel’s pass before forcing a save from Marcel Lotka with a stinging shot.
Union took the lead in the 31st minute courtesy of Becker’s brilliance down the left-hand side.
The Dutch winger stood Peter Pekarík up before beating him for pace and whipping in an inviting ball for the on-rushing Genki Haraguchi to head home.
Timo Baumgartl’s own-goal levelled proceedings before half-time but Prömel restored the visitor’s advantage seven minutes after the break.
Then came Becker’s big moment as the 27-year-old moved the game out of the sights of Felix Magath’s men.
His pace in behind caused Hertha issues again and this time he managed to make room for a shot before placing the ball past Lotka and into the bottom corner.
This was Union and Becker’s night as the team that had been trailing behind the ‘Big City club’ for years have well and truly claimed the status as the kings of the capital.
