Koji Miyoshi could be swapping Birmingham City for the Bundesliga
Birmingham City midfielder Koji Miyoshi could be the next name out of the St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park exit door.
That is according to Patrick Berger of Sky Sports Deutschland, who states that Bundesliga outfit VfL Bochum have targeted the Japanese, who is said to be available for a "bargain" figure as a result of his current contract predicament in the Second City.
Miyoshi only joined Blues last summer from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp on a two-year-deal, but could be the next man to partake in the mass turnover of players we have seen at the League One promotion favourites ever since Chris Davies was appointed in early June.
Miyoshi has emerged as a target for the Bundesliga outfit in the early hours of Transfer Deadline Day, with the first update of the story coming from the aforementioned Patrick Berger of Sky Sports Deutschland.
Berger states that Miyoshi's attributes as a "creative dribbler for the midfield" under Peter Zeidler makes him the exact type of recruit which the German top flight outfit have been looking to pursue, having started their Bundesliga campaign with an away defeat to UEFA Champions League outfit RB Leipzig on Saturday afternoon.
Furthermore, he states that Bochum are in "well advanced" talks over striking a deal for the 27-year-old who now has less than a year to run on his current contract in B9 after initially signing under John Eustace 14 months ago.
Given those circumstances, the report also adds that the transfer fee which would see Miyoshi swap St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park for the Vonovia Ruhrstadion is well under the figure of €1m.
Such information has also been relayed by German sports publication BILD, who claim that Bochum sporting director, Marc Lettau, has been looking for creative midfielders to bolster their squad across the summer, and have eventually decided to pursue the midfielder's services given his attributes in the centre of the park, as well as having the capabilities to feature out wide.
From the moment Davies was appointed, the message from the Blues board was to build a "Championship-ready squad", and that has seen a vast amount of player turnover occur at the club in the off-season and at the start of the season.
Miyoshi was a regular feature in Blues' pre-season outings after registering 13 goal contributions across 48 outings in his first season, before going on to start the club's first two fixtures back in League One against Reading and Wycombe Wanderers, before being named as a substitute against Leyton Orient last weekend.
However, the likes of Siriki Dembele, who joined the club at a similar time to his former counterpart, has since moved on to Oxford, whilst Juninho Bacuna's well-documented exit was also confirmed earlier in the week.
Furthermore, Scott Wright's move from Rangers has also been completed, so there is somewhat of a clear pathway for Blues to cash in on another of their additions which came in Knighthead's first transfer window in the boardroom.
