Simon Rolfes, the sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen, is reportedly still holding out hope that Jonathan Tah will agree to extend his stay with the Bundesliga club.
According to Sky Germany (h/t Fichajes), despite the challenges surrounding the situation, Rolfes and his team are said to be working tirelessly to persuade the German defender to commit his future to Leverkusen.
Tah, however, is in no rush to make a decision about his future. In fact, the 28-year-old is said to be carefully evaluating his options and intends to keep all possibilities open until 2025.
This approach reflects a calculated and mature mindset as he enters the final months of his current contract.
However, with Tah choosing to bide his time, several top clubs across Europe are keeping a close eye on his situation, fully aware that a move in the January transfer window could prove decisive.

Among the interested clubs, Barcelona seem to be leading the race for Tah’s signature. Recent reports indicate that Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, travelled to Germany to meet with Tah and his representatives.
During this meeting, Deco presented Barcelona’s long-term plans and the role they envision for Tah within the team.
The presentation left a strong impression on the defender, who is said to be drawn to Barcelona’s ambitions and future vision.
While no formal agreement has been reached, Barcelona are believed to be confident enough to start preparing the necessary paperwork for a potential transfer.
Tah’s positive response has encouraged the Catalan giants to push ahead with negotiations. However, Bayer Leverkusen remain determined to keep their star defender and have not given up on convincing him to stay.
For now, the situation remains speculative. Tah is focused on completing the current season with Bayer Leverkusen, while both the Bundesliga club and Barcelona wait to see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming months.
