According to a report from L’Equipe, Bundesliga duo Augsburg and Hamburg have submitted offers to Stade Rennais for midfielder Fabian Rieder, though the amounts are yet unknown. It remains to be seen however whether the French side will sanction a move with just five days left of the transfer window.
The 23-year-old gained many admirers in Germany throughout last season, which he spent on loan at DFB Pokal winners Stuttgart where he made 33 appearances, scoring two goals and providing seven assists in all competitions.
Sandro Wagner’s side have had a busy summer so far having spent a reported €17m on eight new signings, which culminated in an excellent 3-1 win at the Europa Park Stadion on the opening day of the season. The addition of Rieder would provide further reinforcement for a team already on the rise this season.
The Hanseatic City club have also made a host of new signings this summer in preparation for their first Bundesliga season since 2017/18. Stefan Kuntz, Claus Costa, and Merlin Polzin are known to be looking for another midfielder, having lost the influential Ludovit Reis to Club Brugge and concerns over the fitness of Immanuel Pherai after returning from injury.
