Bild report that Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in a summer move for former Gunner Konstantinos Mavropanos, now of Stuttgart.
With Stuttgart sitting 16th in the Bundesliga in the relegation play-off place, this has been another disappointing season for Mavropanos’ side, and he’s reportedly keen to leave.
But Frankfurt are yet to make contact with Stuttgart, and they’re hoping a potential relegation for the selling side could bring the price down.
Arsenal will hope for the opposite, given they have a sell-on clause in Mavropanos’ deal, believed to be set at around 10%.
The Gunners loaned Mavropanos to Stuttgart for £500,000, before selling him for a deal totalling £4.5m.
Stuttgart reportedly received a €15m (£13.3m) offer from Inter Milan in January, so the Gunners could be set to earn another £1-2m if and when Mavropanos is sold.
That would leave Arsenal with £6-7m for the defender they signed for £2m in 2018.
Mavropanos has made over 20 appearances for Stuttgart this season, and he has a contract with the club until 2025.
But with their repeated failures to escape the bottom few places of the Bundesliga table year-on-year, it’s understandable that the 25-year-old is starting to get restless.
