Fresh Bundesliga champion Bayer Leverkusen have equalled Juventus‘ 43-match unbeaten record in domestic games and can beat the Old Lady away at Borussia Dortmund next week.
Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen became Bundesliga champions on Sunday after a 5-0 victory against Werder Bremen.
The Bundesliga side won the domestic title for the first time ever and have remained unbeaten for 43 domestic games.
As highlighted by Sky Sport Italia, Juventus achieved the same between 2011 and 2012 across two seasons under Antonio Conte when they won two Serie A titles and set a new record for points in Serie A (102). It’s the longest unbeaten streak in Europe since 2000.
Juventus and Bayer are followed by Celtic, who didn’t lose in 42 consecutive matches between 2016 and 2017, while Inter managed 40 between 2004 and 2005.
The Nerazzurri feature twice in the top 10, given that they also remained unbeaten for 39 games between 2006 and 2007 with Roberto Mancini in charge.
Bayer Leverkusen will overtake Juventus if they avoid defeat in the next away Bundesliga game at Borussia Dortmund on April 21.
