The agent of RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg has accused the German Football Association (DFB) of showing bias towards Bayern Munich.

Hasan Cetinkaya criticised the decision to ban Forsberg for three Bundesliga games following his questionable red card against Hoffenheim last week.

As a result of the suspension – which Leipzig have already accepted – his client will now miss the rest of the season and valuable pre-World Cup minutes.

“Emil was provoked and didn’t even hit his opponent properly,” Cetinkaya told Bild.

“The verdict is an attack on RB and Emil – that would not have been done to a Bayern Munich player.”

Forsberg himself admitted wrongdoing after the game but insisted the offence was not worthy of a dismissal.

“I hit him not in the face, but on the chest. Not hard enough to drop him,” he explained after the game. “Of course I should keep my hands down, that’s clear.”
