Striker Bruno Henrique arrived at Flamengo about a year ago and changed the trajectory of his career.
After a down year at Santos, mainly due to a serious injury, the 29-year-old broke through and had an unbelievable season, leading Flamengo to Libertadores, Brasileirão, and Carioca titles while finishing second in voting for 2019 South American Player of the Year.
He also was awarded the Silver Ball at the Club World Cup, finishing only behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
On Wednesday, Flamengo announced that, amid rumours of a move to China, that Bruno Henrique has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until December 2023.
In an interview with FlaTV, Bruno Henrique discussed his ‘movie-like’ year at the club and re-iterated his desire to stay at the club.
“It’s like a movie I keep playing in my head. I came to Flamengo, in front of a huge crowd, to play for a club that everyone knows.
“For every club I’ve played for, I did my best. It was no different here. With great players, I was able to help and be helped by them, so we could reach a very high level.
“I am very happy to be here in Flamengo and to renew my contract. I hope I can be here and fulfil my dream every day in this house that I love.”
Bruno Henrique is likely to be involved when the first-team return to play in matchday five of the Taça Guanabara against Resende on Monday.
The Flamengo youth team will look to continue their impressive run on Wednesday when they play rivals Fluminense.
