Bruno Guimaraes, what a player!

Signing for Newcastle United at the end of January, Lyon banking a guaranteed £35m and with agreed bonus payments (mostly reliant on NUFC not getting relegated) of another £6.25m, The Brazilian midfielder set to become Newcastle’s record signing, once those add-ons are all activated.

As he has done with pretty much every other Newcastle United player, whether longstanding or a January 2022 signing, Eddie Howe has done a great job with Bruno Guimaraes.

Despite Newcastle still very much deep in relegation trouble, the NUFC Head Coach took the brave route of letting the midfielder adapt to his new surroundings and the demands of the Premier League.

Whereas the vast majority of former Newcastle United managers / head coaches would have happily thrown the big money signing in instantly, as the media and indeed many fans were demanding, Eddie Howe gave him that valuable bedding in time, even though NUFC remained relegation favourites.

That patience and intelligent man-management has paid massive dividends.

Bruno Guimaraes has been Newcastle’s man of the match in the vast majority of the ten Premier League games he has started. Plus, as well as brilliant all round performances, Bruno has also scored five goals and got one assist.

That latest goal came on Monday night, as well as yet another man of the match performance.

As usual, Bruno’s family were in the stands watching, the Newcastle United star posting this video on his Instagram account of his father crying as the Newcastle fans sang his son’s name…

Bruno Guimaraes and his partner are now expecting their first child and as well as the pair of them moving to Tyneside, Bruno’s mother and father have also made the move to live here in the north east.

What a lovely family and what a success story this has proved to be so far, Newcastle fans now dreaming of just what could be possible now with players such as Bruno Guimaraes leading the way…
