Manchester United’s pre season tour of the United States will be a chance for the fans to watch their new summer signings — Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo play in tandem for the first time.
Apart from the famous names on display, Ruben Amorim is expected to turn to quite a few academy graduates during the three games after picking a host of them as part of the travelling squad.
One of them is Jack Fletcher, who came on as a late substitute in the first friendly against Leeds United. And given his impressive form for the academy last season, many are expecting this season to be his breakthrough campaign.
He scored eight times while registering seven assists for the various age group sides, and was a part of the first team matchday squad six times.
The son of former United midfielder Darren Fletcher, who recently took over the reins of the U18s, Jack excels as a No.10, something Amorim’s system is highly dependant on.
The 18-year-old possesses bucket loads of creativity while also being a hard-worker off the ball. And club captain Bruno Fernandes has tipped him to shine in pre-season.
On the United YouTube channel, Fernandes praised the young midfield maestro, while urging him to show more.
“We go here for the next generation of Fletch! Let’s enjoy it, let’s score some goals also.
“Fans want to see goals from that left-foot, you have to show them. We are expecting magic from there.”
The Portuguese superstar speaking so highly of him should fuel Jack Fletcher to push further. The skipper has thrown down the gauntlet, now it is up to him to respond.
United will take part in the Premier League’s Summer Series for the first time, with matches against league opponents West Ham United, Bournemouth, and Everton all lined up.
Hopefully, Fletcher will see minutes and when given the chance, he can grab the opportunity with both hands.
