Chelsea vs Manchester United: Chelsea will host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in a match of the Premier League that, despite its legacy, does not represent a battle for the top. Both teams arrive with different feelings, but equally urgent. The Blues are coming off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle at St. James’ Park. Sandro Tonali opened the scoring in the opening minutes, and Nicolas Jackson was sent off before the break. Bruno Guimarães sealed the result near the end.

That defeat came just after Chelsea secured their place in the UEFA Europa Conference League final by eliminating Djurgarden 5-1 on aggregate. They now await Real Betis in the final, but must first focus on securing a place in next season’s Champions League.

Manchester United, on the other hand, arrive with more shadows than lights. They lost 2-0 to West Ham at Old Trafford, leaving them with just two points from their last seven league games. The outlook could not be bleaker: they are perilously close to relegation, with 17th place a possible destination. Although United will play in the Europa League final against Tottenham, that doesn’t cover up their crisis in the league. The trip to London does not look easy. Stamford Bridge demands answers. De Ligt (Injured), Heaven (Injured), Martinez (Injured), Yoro (Injured), Dalot (Injured), and Zirkzee (Injured) are set to be sidelined from this game with injuries. In this article, let us take a look at the predicted starting lineup of Manchester United against Chelsea.

3-4-2-1 Manchester United Predicted Starting Lineup Against Chelsea:

Defense:

Amorim will make rotations for the clash against Chelsea with the European final in mind. In defence, Altay Bayindir is expected to receive minutes in goal. The back three could consist of Noussair Mazraoui, who has been solid since his arrival, alongside Victor Lindelöf and Luke Shaw, two experienced centre-backs who have been inconsistent this season.

The Swede would bring order and experience in the backline, while Shaw would be a reliable cover for the left-hand side. The choice of this backline aims to maintain balance without exposing the block. In addition, the three centre-backs would provide greater protection against Chelsea’s transitions.

Midfield:

The midfield will present an interesting scenario. Amad Diallo will occupy the right wing-back role with a more attacking role. In the centre, Manuel Ugarte would be the anchor, with clear functions of recovery, proper distribution and shielding the backline. Bruno Fernandes would be back in the defensive midfield after playing as the attacking midfielder for the majority of the season. On the left wing-back, Amass, a youth player with an attacking profile, would have a chance to show his quality.

Attack:

Kobbie Mainoo would have the freedom to play inside right. Mason Mount, returning from injury, would play inside left, occupying space between the lines and providing mobility. This mix of youth and experience aims to control the tempo of the game without wearing down the indisputable players. The attacking area will revolve around Rasmus Højlund. The Dane will lead the attack, although with less support than usual. With Fernandes and Mount slightly further back, his task will be more physical, pinning down centre-backs and attacking space.
