Bruno Fernandes has been linked with a move to Inter, but the Manchester United captain says he’ll leave Old Trafford only if the club don’t want him anymore.

The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this week that Inter were interested in Portugal international Bruno Fernandes.

The Nerazzurri have already secured midfield reinforcement for 2024-25 by signing Piotr Zielinski on a free transfer from Napoli, but according to the report, they are also interested in the ex-Sampdoria and Udinese star, who has been linked with Bayern Munich as well.

Fernandes spoke about his future after Manchester United’s win over Newcastle last night.

“The club needs to want me,” said the Portuguese as quoted by Mirror.co.uk.

“I feel the club wants me to be a part of the future. As I said always, I don’t want to be a player that the club doesn’t want to have. If, for some reason, they don’t want to have me, I will go. But if they want me, I will stay.‌”

The 29-year-old has 15 goals and 12 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions this season. His contract at Old Trafford runs out in 2026, but the club has an option to extend for a further year.

“I am no different from anyone just because I have the armband,” the midfielder continued.

“I always try my best, and we always do the best we can for the club – nobody hides that we play for a big club, and we have to lift our standards every game.”

Bruno made his debut in professional football in Italy, precisely in Serie B at Novara. Overall, the Portuguese has 119 appearances in Serie A for Udinese and Sampdoria, scoring 15 goals and providing 14 assists.
