Bruno Fernandes has dismissed fears of an ankle injury after playing 90 minutes in Portugal's 2-1 win over Scotland on Sunday.

The Manchester United midfielder, who grabbed Portugal's equaliser on the night, was seen limping after a tough blow to his ankle. While he still managed to finish the game, many fans were left sweating over their captain's fitness.

Asked for an update after the game, Fernandes quickly stressed there is nothing for supporters to be concerned about.

"It's okay," he told the media. "It's just a little bump."

While most of the headlines were dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo's late winner - the 901st goal of his illustrious career - the game also saw Fernandes hit his own milestone of 600 appearances for club and country.

"I had no idea," Fernandes confessed. "It's a nice number, which I hope to increase, because playing games is the best thing in the world. For me it is, in the sense of doing what I love most. I love playing football, I want to do it in the best way possible and representing our national team has a special feeling."

Fernandes will hope to be back in action when Portugal face Poland on Thursday, two days before club football returns with United's trip to Southampton.
