After beating Arsenal 3-2 earlier in the week, Manchester United picked up where they left off when they faced Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils, who were led for the first time by interim manager Ralf Rangnick, put in a thoroughly dominant performance during Sunday’s game against the Eagles.

Looking to reinvent the side and mould them into a team capable of pressing high and playing quick football, Rangnick’s infamous brand of football was clear for all to see – despite the German being in charge for just a few days.

The side pressed as a collective and in turn, fans witnessed an energetic and fast-paced display throughout.

Arguably one of their best performances in a long time, which was capped off by a winning goal from midfielder Fred, the Red Devils were unlucky to have won the game by just one goal.

In light of Fred’s impressive second-half long-range goal, speaking after the game, Bruno Fernandes took the time to praise his Brazilian teammate.

“We had to carry on with what we did in the last game against Arsenal,” Fernandes told BBC Sport. “We are happy because we got the three points. The results could have been even better.

“Fred has these moments, one shot per year. Everyone is happy for him because he’s such a nice guy. He works a lot and people don’t talk about him. He deserves the praise.

“I think it depends on the game, sometimes you have to press more, sometimes less. But everyone knows the manager wants more pressing from us.

“The first 25 minutes was unbelievable, great tempo. We could have scored so many in the first half.

“We have to follow our new manager’s instructions. Now we go again to the Champions League.”
