Bruce Buck looks set to stay on as Chelsea chairman after Todd Boehly assumes control of the club, according to an exclusive in the Times this evening.
There had been whispers that both Buck and director Marina Granovskaia would both be asked to remain at the club even after Roman Abramovich departs, and there was clearly merit to them.
There is great value in keeping on their experience and knowledge of the club’s immediate affairs, especially in the short term. Boehly clearly wants to minimise disruption at the club.
As the person directly involved with the club’s transfer activity, Granovskaia is a controversial and well known figure, and one of Abramovich’s few mouthpieces.
The pair’s close relationship with the sanctioned Abramovich hasn’t appeared to be a problem in terms of PR for the new owners.
Jonathan Goldstein, part of the consortium which will control the club, won’t take up a seat on the board, unlike some of the other public figures.
