Broony in hilarious 5-1 dig at former rivals | OneFootball

Some of you may remember Scott Brown urging the other Scottish sides in Europe to start pulling their weight a few years ago. “Until the other Scottish teams start helping us out, we’ve got to do it ourselves”, the then-Celtic midfielder went on record as saying about Scotland’s UEFA co-efficient and subsequent qualifying places. With only one qualification place for the Champions League at the time, you could see his frustration.

It was a while ago that ex-captain Broony came out with the statement – 3 years ago to the week in fact – but in true Michael Jordan fashion, Scott took it personally and into his own hands; captaining Aberdeen to a 5-1 victory over Swedish outfit BK Hacken on Thursday night in the newfound UEFA Conference League.

5-1 is a scoreline that Brown will be all so familiar with, too. In the 16/17 season, under the guidance of newly-appointed boss Brendan Rodgers, Celtic beat theRangers 5-1 at Paradise in just the fifth game of the season, leaving Celtic fans in a dreamland they thought would never be replicated.

It got even better just 7 months later when Celtic beat them by the same scoreline again at Ibrox, in front of 40,000+ theRangers fans who could do nothing but look on in the perennial horror. I guess everyone was looking on in horror in all fairness – if only at the sight of Clint Hill trying to defend against a rampant Leigh Griffiths.

Brown controlled the midfield superbly in both fixtures, leaving self-proclaimed ‘hard man’ Joey Barton biting the dust at Celtic Park; with the scouser not even returning for round two as he left for Burnley just six months after arriving in Glasgow.

And Broony, who seems to be settling in superbly to his player/coach role up at Pittodrie, made a sly dig in his celebratory post after the win in Europe on Thursday; citing how much he loves a 5-1 win.
