Briton Ferry hold reigning champions while Saints stun Swans | OneFootball

Briton Ferry Llansawel drew at Cardiff City and The New Saints won 5-0 at Swansea City as only one point now separates the Genero Adran Premier’s top five.

Briton Ferry stayed top by one point from four other teams, including hosts Cardiff City who rescued a point in added time. Even after Lucy Powell’s penalty for Llansawel was saved by Ceryn Chamberlain, Ferry went 2-0 up through Lowri Ridings and Alison Witts, before Eliza Collie struck back twice.

The New Saints went second on goal-difference with a superb result at Swansea, Chantelle Teare with three goals and Caitlin Chapman as many assists.

Barry edged Wrexham to sit just a goal behind Cardiff City, the visitors’ substitute Erin Lovett saw red on 74 minutes before Town’s own sub Ellie Preece quickly grabbed the only goal.

Cardiff Met and Aberystwyth played out a goalless draw, as both sides gained their first point of the campaign.

Group 1: Bangor 0-4 Llandudno (Att: 49), Connah’s Quay Nomads 3-0 NFA (Att: 56)

Rebecca Jarvis-Evans and Ella Jones scored two apiece for Llandudno, who make the quarter-finals along with group winners Connah’s Quay. The Nomads’ Alisha Whitehead-Hughes and Hannah Slack both came off the bench to score against NFA, in a third straight win.

Group 2: Flint Town United 9-3 Felinheli (Att: 124), Llanfair United 4-0 Rhyl

Flint completed a perfect record when overcoming Felinheli 9-3, Zoe Stopford and Jennifer Haynes with trebles, Kaelyn Williams with a brace and four assists. Llanfair also progressed after seeing off Rhyl 4-0.

Group 3: Caldicot Town 2-1 Llanelli Town, Cascade 1-0 Swansea University (Att: 30)

Caldicot topped the table on goal-difference from Cascade, Millie Pearce with the decider as Town fought back to beat Llanelli and Annaliese Lewis’s effort enough for Cascade to beat Swansea University.

Group 4: Cambrian United 1-4 Cwmbran Celtic, Pontypridd Town 2-3 Penybont

Penybont won all three games after a 3-2 victory at Pontypridd, where they led three times and the hosts had coach Claire O’Sullivan dismissed. Cwmbran made the last eight with a 4-1 success at Cambrian United, where they had been 1-0 down. Jade Crofts’ first-half double saw them 4-1 up at the break and the score remained the same despite the loss of Elena Scrivens to a 69th-minute red card.
