Brentford suffered defeat today in the EFL Merit League 2, losing 3-1 to Bristol Rovers away from home.

It was a game that saw Lydia Bedford's side have a lot of possession but fail to turn the time with the ball into clear-cut opportunities.

Brentford did have some early openings as Omaru King’s cross almost found Ollie Shield at the back post, but he could not get a touch on the ball.

Matas Klimas had shouts for a penalty waved away despite it looking clear that he was hauled down in the box.

The home side took their first chance of the game, a quarter of the way into the first-half, Kofi Shaw steering the ball beyond Conor Wolfheimer in the Brentford net.

Bedford’s side could do little about the home side’s second as Shaw scored his second of the game.

The Bees did control possession for large parts of the half, but they failed to convert that into clear-cut chances.

After the restart, it quickly became three to Bristol Rovers as a scramble in box fell to Oscar Bridgman who turned the ball into the net.

Wolfheimer made a great save to keep our deficit to only three, showing great reflexes to deny Shaw his hat-trick.

With the last kick of the game Brentford did manage to get a consolation as Freddie Taylor did well to finish under pressure.

The home side would take all three points though as Brentford were defeated.
