Bristol City Women will continue to play their home matches at Ashton Gate throughout the 2024/2025 season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Robins just a short time ago.

Bristol City’s relegation from the Barclays Women’s Super League was confirmed this evening after they were defeated 4-0 by Manchester City at Ashton Gate. It has been a tough season for Lauren Smith’s side following their promotion to the top tier last summer.

Despite results being hard to come by, Bristol City have recorded an average home attendance of more than 7,000 this season. Given the popularity of the team, the club have immediately offered their backing again for next season with Bristol City set to play all of their Barclays Women’s Championship matches at Ashton Gate.

Speaking after Bristol City’s relegation was confirmed, Gavin Marshall, Bristol Sport Group CEO said “Obviously, we are really disappointed that we were unable to secure survival on our return to the top flight but really proud of all the players and staff who have given everything all season.

“We knew this would be a challenging campaign and we’d like to thank you for your incredible backing both on the road and at our home, Ashton Gate, where we will be playing all our Championship matches again next season and we hope to see you in the stands again.

“In another record-breaking year for the women’s game, we, and all of you, should be proud of the work and dedication that has gone into the continued growth of our game in Bristol, the South West and beyond.

“The same goes for the players, many of whom have shone this season and proved beyond doubt that they deserve to be playing at the top level. We have the youngest squad in the division and while we knew from the outset that it would be an immense challenge to compete with the top teams in the country, there have been times where we’ve gone toe-to-toe with the best of the best.

“Lauren Smith has our full backing and we firmly believe she is the best person to help us replicate last year’s achievements of winning the Championship and returning to the Women’s Super League.

“In the meantime, we still have our final home game of the season against Everton on 18 May and I know the team will be working as hard as ever to secure victory at Ashton Gate.”

Bristol City’s 2024/2025 season tickets go on-sale tomorrow priced at £85 for adults and £55 for Under-19s. A family of four can buy a combined season ticket for £225.
