Bristol City have signed Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Jackie Burns, following her departure from Reading.

The 27-year-old has played 52 times for her country and has spent the past two seasons at Reading.

She had her college career in the USA, also later playing abroad for IBV in Iceland and Sweden’s BK Hacken.

Burns told bcfc.co.uk: “Bristol City have always been one of those teams which has competed for the Championship. You always want to go to a club which has a good backing, and I have heard so much about the City supporters and how amazing they are.

“I am really excited to get started and get going with this team.”

Head Coach Lauren Smith said: “I am really pleased we could secure the services of Jackie who has so much experience in the game.

“She will bring us a lot both on and off the pitch and I am looking forward to working with her.”
