Bristol City goalkeeper Fran Bentley has signed a new two-year contract with the club ahead of the 2025/2026 season.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 24-year-old stopper joined Bristol City from former club Manchester United in summer 2022 off the back of a successful loan spell in the South West. Bentley has gone on to make 55 appearances for The Robins in league competition while she was a Barclays WSL2 title-winner in 2022/2023. The player is regarded as one of the very best goalkeepers in the second tier.

Bentley is an important member of the Bristol City side and the club have therefore moved to retain her services for two more years.

After extending her contract at Ashton Gate, Bentley said “I’m buzzing to have signed a new deal and extend my stay here. I feel at home here, the fans are brilliant, so I’m delighted to agree to another two years.

“I have enjoyed my journey so far and have had so many great memories. Hopefully, we can build on last season and create some more at Ashton Gate.”

Bentley is the first player to sign a contract extension with Bristol City during the close season.
