Brighton & Hove Albion’s interim head coach Mikey Harris insists that this weekend’s fixture at Bristol City is not a season-defining game.

The Seagulls travel to Ashton Gate to face the Barclays Women’s Super League’s bottom club on Sunday afternoon. A positive result would significantly boost Brighton & Hove Albion’s survival bid, however, defeat could see them pulled into a relegation scrap.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Brighton & Hove Albion’s interim boss Harris played down the importance of Sunday’s fixture in his side’s season.

“I wouldn’t see it as a season-defining game,” Harris said. “We’ve got eight games left in the league and there are a lot of points to play for.

“From my perspective, we are looking to finish the season as high as we possibly can and I’m hoping that a positive performance and a positive result will contribute to that on Sunday.”

Going on to discuss his side’s preparation, Harris said that nothing will change for this weekend’s 12th v 11th encounter.

He said “We treat every game the same. The process is the same, we prepare the same, we review the same, we have a clear process that we follow and Sunday is no different. Every game, we respect the opposition and every game, we try to input our philosophy and identity in a positive way. Hopefully, that leads to a positive performance and a positive result.”

Harris believes that Bristol City will provide his side with a stern test at Ashton Gate but Brighton & Hove Albion can be successful if they’re at their best.

“It’ll be a really difficult game,” Harris said. “Every game in the WSL is a high-level game, is a challenging game. I’ve watched a lot of them in the last week and I’ve been really impressed. Their position in the league is a bit of a false one, they’ve got some strong attributes and we will have to be at our best. If we are at our best, I’m confident that we will put in a positive performance.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Bristol City kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
