Bristol City defender Lia Cataldo has signed a new one-year deal according to reports on The Robins’ official club website.

The 21-year-old full-back has just completed her first season as a Bristol City player after joining the club from former FA Women’s Championship title winners Leicester City last summer. Cataldo made 21 appearances for The Robins in the FA Women’s Championship this season, helping the club to a third-place finish.

Cataldo is an important member of the Bristol City squad and the club have today announced that the player has agreed to remain at The Robins’ High Performance Centre next season. She joins teammate Ffion Morgan in signing fresh terms with Bristol City this week.

After signing on again with The Robins, Cataldo said “I’m delighted to commit to Bristol City for another season as I can see that we’re going in the right direction and making great progress, so it was an easy decision to make.

“As soon as I arrived at the start of this season all the players and staff made me feel welcome, that hasn’t changed and that’s why I love it here – it’s a great group.

“I managed to play consistently and got a lot of game time this season and that experience has made me more determined to kick on and help the club finish top of the table come the end of the next season.”

Further squad updates will be provided by Bristol City in due course.
