Southampton winger Ramello Mitchell is unlikely to join Bristol City following the end of his trial at the club, according to Bristol World’s Gregor MacGregor.

The 19-year-old is out of contract with the Saints in the summer and appears to be searching for a new club, with the Robins running the rule over him earlier this month.

Mitchell featured for the U23s during his short spell with City but it doesn’t seem as though a permanent move is on the cards.

MacGregor has reported that the teenager has moved on to train with the first team at a different club and that it is unlikely that he will sign a deal with the Ashton Gate outfit.

A product of the Birmingham City academy, the winger left the Blues to join Southampton’s youth system in July 2019.

Mitchell, who is comfortable playing across the forward line, has been a regular in the club’s age-group sides since his arrival and has featured 14 times for the U23s this term – including three appearances against EFL opposition in the Papa John’s Trophy.

The Verdict

It’s been a very quiet transfer window for City so far and it seems as though it may well stay that way, with Mitchell moving on to have a trial with another club.

The Robins have got a great track record of bringing in and developing young talent but it seems the 19-year-old won’t be the latest to link up with the Bs3 outfit.

Whether that’s because the City coaches weren’t keen or the player himself wasn’t convinced by the club is unclear but if it’s the former then you feel supporters should trust the club figures that have played their part in a thriving academy system.

Even so, signing an up-and-coming winger from a Premier League club would’ve injected some excitement into an otherwise quiet window.

It will be interesting to see where Mitchell pops up next.

Did any of these 25 ex-Bristol City players ever get a red card during their time at the club?
