Bristol City have confirmed the appointment of Liam Manning as the club’s new head coach.

Manning joins the Robins from Oxford having spent just seven months at the Kassam Stadium.

In those seven months however, Manning has helped take the Yellows from relegation candidates in League One to sitting in second place and looking at a promotion push.

But the lure of the Championship has seemingly been too much for the 38-year-old, who has joined on a three-and-a-half year deal.

“This is a terrific opportunity and one that I’m really looking forward to,” said Manning.

“If you look at the vision of the club and where they want to get to and how they want to get there I think there is really good fit and alignment with my journey and where I want to get to.”

Chris Hogg joins Manning in trading Oxford for Ashton Gate as the club’s new assistant head coach.
