Bristol City have completed the signing of former London City Lionesses midfielder Amy Rodgers on a two-year deal.

The Robins announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this evening.

Rodgers joins Bristol City on a free transfer after her contract with London City Lionesses expired. The player announced her departure from the Dartford-based club yesterday.

In her two years at Princes Park, Rodgers was a model of consistency. The midfielder featured in all 44 matches in the Barclays Women’s Championship that London City Lionesses played while she scored 12 goals.

Rodgers has previously played in the Barclays Women’s Super League in her time at Liverpool and the player will be ready to make the step back up to that level again with Bristol City.

After completing her move to Bristol City, Rodgers said “I’m so excited to join the club, I can’t wait to get going.

“I’ve played against Bristol City for quite a few years now and it’s always been an exciting game and a really tough opponent, so I’ve always thought that it would be something I’d love to be a part of.

“The club did a brilliant job in getting promoted last season so it was a bit of a no-brainer when Lauren (Smith) got on the phone and asked me to join.”

Rodgers is Bristol City head coach Lauren Smith’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
