West Bromwich Albion fans will be thrilled at the recent performance of Andreas Weimann.
The Austrian forward joined the club during the January transfer window on loan until the end of the season, after falling down the pecking order at Bristol City in the final year of his contract.
After starting just nine times in the league for the Robins, Weimann joined the Baggies on a six-month loan deal, with City happy to get his £22,500 reported wages off the books for what looks likely to be his final six months at the club.
The Baggies were doing well before the move, with the team still challenging for the play-offs despite their lack of goals. The hope is that the addition of Weimann, and the other attackers drafted in last month, can be the last piece of the puzzle for Carlos Corberan, and he has so far impressed during his short spell at The Hawthorns - scoring twice and providing an assist in four appearances.
Weimann delighted fans when he found the net against Cardiff City last week, as he continues his impactful start for Albion.
The striker poked home a cross from Jed Wallace at the end of a Baggies counter-attack in the 80th minute, putting the game to bed in a 2-0 victory over the Bluebirds on Tuesday.
This followed a first-minute strike by Michael Johnston, with the goals helping West Brom to retain their place in the play-off places, while sending Cardiff tumbling even further down the table and further away from pushing for a top six finish.
Weimann's strike was the second goal he's scored since making his debut for the club, with his two goals and one assist in four games for the Baggies already beating his goal contribution tally at Ashton Gate this season.
Both his new club and his parent club will be thrilled with Weimann's contribution to the Baggies' win over the Bluebirds on the weekend/
Obviously, West Brom will be thrilled at their January signing getting amongst the goals. Scoring goals has been an issue for the club so far in the Championship, with the club currently the lowest-scoring side in the top six with six goals fewer than Coventry City.
With Weimann's contract set to expire this summer, he will be looking to carry on scoring goals to earn a contract at The Hawthorns or find a new club at the end of the season.
West Brom could be interested in signing him on a free transfer, should he continue to impress. With his recent performances, along with his versatility to play all across the front three, he could be a good utility player to add to the squad ahead of next season.
Robins fans, meanwhile, will have been pleased with his performance against Cardiff. As fierce rivals of the South Wales side, the Bristol club and their supporters will be delighted to see their on-loan player get one over on their Severnside foes. The loss even helped keep Cardiff below the Robins in the league, with the two teams currently sitting in 14th and 12th place, respectively.
With four points separating the two sides, the derby match between the Championship teams next month could be even more heated.
