It would take £50million for Manchester United or Liverpool to prise Yves Bissouma away from Brighton & Hove Albion, according to journalist Tom Barclay.

What's the latest news involving Bissouma?

Bissouma has claimed he is the best midfielder in the Premier League and, with that being the case, it is not surprising that a host of clubs are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old.

Speaking to Brighton's in-house media department, via Metro, Bissouma confirmed he has ambitions of playing in the Champions League and winning plenty of silverware before hanging up his boots.

Although Bissouma is still on Brighton's books, Liverpool made an official enquiry for the Mali international just days before the summer window closed last month.

It has been suggested that Liverpool, along with Manchester United and Arsenal, could be involved in a tussle for Bissouma's services when the transfer market reopens in January.

Brighton hold the upper-hand should any rivals firm up their interest as Bissouma's contract, worth £25,000-per-week, does not expire until the summer of 2023.

What has Tom Barclay said about Bissouma's future?

Brighton recouped £50million when they sold England international defender Ben White to Arsenal during the summer.

Barclay believes Brighton would be aiming to secure a similar fee if any of Bissouma's suitors swoop at the turn of the year.

The journalist told GMS: "I imagine around £50million would get him, the same as Ben White.

"Brighton aren't afraid to sell players. It's kind of part of their model.

"The next step they needed to take was sell a big player because they hadn't done that yet. But they obviously did that with Ben White this summer."

Why is Bissouma rated so highly?

Brighton signed Bissouma from French side Lille for a fee believed to be in the region of £15million three years ago.

He made the move to the Premier League having chalked up 55 appearances for his former employers.

Bissouma is now closing in on 100 appearances in the English top flight and has been hailed by the likes of former England international striker Gary Lineker thanks to his stunning form at the Amex Stadium.

Prior to Brighton's win over Leicester City at the weekend, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers praised Bissouma's physicality and defensive work for the Seagulls.

It is not just at club level where Bissouma is catching the eye as he has also gone on to claim 13 international caps for Mali, scoring two goals in the process.
