Many were expecting Liverpool to go top of the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s mammoth title tussle between Manchester City and Arsenal.

But Brighton’s Danny Welbeck had other ideas.

The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker gave the Seagulls the lead with a thumping finish after just 87 seconds at Anfield.

And it was the fastest goal scored by an away side on that ground since Harry Kane gave Tottenham the lead back in 2019.

The good news for Liverpool is that they have plenty of time to respond. Jürgen Klopp’s side have not lost a Premier League home game since October 2022.
