Brighton are ‘pushing’ to sign Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbache as the Seagulls look to beat strong competition to the Euro 2024 star.
Kadioglu impressed as Turkey reached the quarter-finals of this summer’s European Championship with Manchester United and Arsenal among the teams credited with an interest in the all-action full-back.
Brighton have now made an ambitious move to land the 24-year-old with Sky Germany reporting that new Seagulls head coach Fabian Hürzeler is a big fan of the player.
Pervis Estupinan is currently sidelined for the south coast side and Kadioglu’s ability to operate in either full-back position would boost Brighton’s options defensively.
At the time of Turkey’s exit he led Euro 2024 for tackles and ranked second for duels won, while only Lamine Yamal and Joshua Kimmich created more chances (12) than Kadioglu at the tournament.
Last season, he led all Turkish Süper Lig full-backs for key passes, accelerations, progressive runs, and progressive passes, while ranking second for dribbles and fouls drawn. Negotiations are ongoing for the Dutch-born defender who is valued at around €35m (£29.9m) in Istanbul.
