The blue and white shirts of Brighton are like a red rag to a bull for Ollie Watkins.
The 27-year-old’s last Premier League goal at Villa Park was in May against Brighton, until today where they faced … you guessed it.
Aston Villa bounced into a 14th-minute lead through a poacher’s finish from Watkins before he only went and doubled that seven minutes later, cutting inside from the left-hand side before drilling in at Jason Steele’s near-post.
That brace means Watkins becomes the fourth player to score in four consecutive games against the Seagulls, following Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Manchester City pair Phil Foden and Sergio Agüero.
There is work to do for Roberto De Zerbi as his team haven’t kept a clean sheet this season, their last shut-out coming in May against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Especially after they then fell 3-0 down courtesy of an unfortunate own goal from Pervis Estupiñán.
A disastrous start for the Seagulls.
