Brighton & Hove Albion's search for a new manager is already well underway, with Steve Cooper and Kjetil Knutsen heading their list of targets, 90min understands.

Nottingham Forest boss Cooper has built up a reputation as one of the best British managers currently operating, having brought his current employers from the lower reaches of the Championship to the Premier League in his first season.

Forest have backed him in the summer transfer window, having landed over 20 new players, but Brighton are now looking closely at whether Cooper could be ready to move again.

90min understands that Cooper does have a compensation clause in his contract, so if he does want to talk to Brighton, he would be allowed.

However, Cooper is not the only target that Brighton are doing their homework on, with Bodo/Glimt's Knutsen also someone of interest to the Seagulls.

Knutsen has guided his side to the Norwegian title in each of the last two seasons and has also made an impact in Europe, and Brighton are one of many clubs who are keeping a close eye on his situation.

Brighton have also looked towards the Football League - where they found former boss Graham Potter at Swansea City - and 90min understands that another name who has emerged is Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna.

The man who replaced Potter at Swansea was Brighton-born Russell Martin, whose style of play has drawn comparisons to the former, and he has been offered to the Seagulls via intermediaries.
