Conolly spent the second half of last season with Middlesbrough, scoring twice in 21 games, before joining Italian second-tier side Venezia in the summer.

But after managing just five appearances and failing to score in Serie B, it was announced on Friday that the striker has been recalled from his time in Italy, and instead joined Hull until the end of the season.

Now it seems as though the 22-year-old is determined to hit the ground running with the Championship club.

on Twitter, Connolly simply wrote the words: “Let’s go”.

The Verdict

This does feel like it will be a really important loan spell for Connolly.

The forward did seem to show a decent amount of promise when he first broke into the senior setup with Brighton, but never really managed to build on that at The Amex.

Since then, he has endured two disappointing loan spells that have done little to really highlight what he can do, meaning this stint with Hull probably needs to work, if he is to force his way back into consideration with his parent club.

If he is unable to do that, then it does feel as though some potentially useful talent, could be at risk of being rather wasted here, which would be something of a disappointment for many.
