Brighton & Hove Albion sign Colombian full-back Vanegas Cataño

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Seagulls this morning.
The 24-year-old joins Brighton & Hove Albion following a spell playing her football in the Spanish finetwork Liga F with Real Sociedad. She has been with La Real since 2021 and helped the club to record a top half of the table finish last season. Vanegas has also turned out for Formas Íntimas, Envigado FC, Atlético Huila, Independiente Medellín and RCD Espanyol in her club career to date.
On the international stage, Vanegas has been capped by Colombia on more than 30 occasions and most recently featured for her country at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 and the 2024 Olympic Games.
After adding Vanegas to his squad, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić said “It’s exciting to welcome Manuela to the squad. She’s a solid defender who is both reliable at defending and threatening moving forward.
“Her energy and creativity will be a real asset for us as we push towards our goals this season.”
Vanegas is Brighton & Hove Albion’s third signing of what promises to be a busy summer transfer window.
