Brighton have signed Celtic playmaker Matt O’Riley.
The Denmark international departs for a reported initial fee of £25m which could rise to £30m depending on performance-related bonuses.
The Seagulls have announced that O’Riley has signed a five- year deal on the south coast as Fabian Hürzeler adds to his options in the centre of the park.
The transfer fee received sees the 23-year-old become Scottish football’s record sale, eclipsing the fee received by Celtic for defender Kieran Tierney when he joined Arsenal in 2019.
O’Riley leaves after two-and-a-half successful seasons in the east end of Glasgow, where he won a clean sweep of the club’s Player, Young Player and Players’ Player of the Year awards last season.
