Brighton head coach Graham Potter believes the club's supporters played a key role in their win over Leicester City.

The Albion were somewhat fortuitous to come away with all three points, after the Foxes had several chances to equalise in the second half.

Potter, whose side were typically on the losing end of such games last term, believes the fans created the ideal atmosphere in the game.

The Seagulls head coach said, per The Argus: "It's a great three points for us in front of our own supporters.

"I thought they were amazing today, our fans.

"Really got behind us and helped us when we needed them.

"I thought we played well to get the lead and had to do lots of things really well.

"Defend, attack, the bit in between. I thought we did that well.

"Leicester are a quality side and they responded. They scored a good goal.

"We had to hang on, we needed a bit of luck.

"The margins that maybe went away from us last year were in our favour and we managed to hang on for a fantastic three points.

"It's a great start for us but that's all it is - a start. There's a long way to go."
