Premier League duo Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur are both admirers of Norwich City star Jonathan Rowe, according to a report from the Daily Mail (31/12 paper edition; page 84).

The 20-year-old has taken his game to a whole new level this season, starting the season brilliantly under David Wagner by scoring four goals in his opening four league matches.

His scoring rate may have slowed down since then, but he still has 11 goals and two assists in 25 competitive appearances this term, with all but one of those strikes coming in the Championship.

His highlights of the season came against arch-rivals Ipswich Town at Portman Road, with the player registering a brace against Kieran McKenna's side to allow the Canaries to take a point back to Carrow Road.

They were the clear underdogs heading into this game considering how well the Tractor Boys have done this term, so the Norfolk side's supporters will have been delighted with his contributions that day and throughout the 2023/24 season so far.

Not only has he impressed at a domestic level - but he has also played for the England U21s following an impressive string of performances during the early stages of the term - even scoring against Serbia back in October.

For Norwich, he has been crucial and has potentially played a big part in David Wagner keeping his job, with the Canaries' summer business not exactly fully paying off at the moment.

Interest in Jonathan Rowe growing

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly had a £15m bid rejected for him in the summer - and more bids for the 20-year-old could be on the way from tomorrow.

Not only have the Seagulls and Spurs been linked with him - but Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Wolves were reported to be interested in him last month as well.

With Gary O'Neil's side sustaining their interest in the young attacker, it remains to be seen whether they end up launching a fresh bid for him.

The player's contract expires in 2025, so it will be interesting to see whether the Canaries are prepared to let their star man go next month.

Norwich City face a big Jonathan Rowe dilemma in January

With his contract situation in mind, the Canaries won't want to risk losing Rowe for a small fee or even worse, for free.

That would be catastrophic for them considering they could reinvest the money they generate from his sale.

It's clear that the Norfolk outfit are at risk of being an average Championship side after spending years as a yo-yo team between the top flight and second tier.

Selling Rowe could be a game-changer for them, because that will give Ben Knapper more funds to play with.

And if he can spend wisely, a top-flight return could be on the horizon.
