As per Fabrizio Romano, Brighton are set to sign centre-back Igor from Fiorentina- having reached an agreement to pay the Italian club a €17m fee plus add-ons for his services.
The Seagulls already agreed on personal terms with the Brazilian earlier this week, who will travel to Brighton soon and sign a four-year contract until 2027 at the club.
With a year left on his current deal at La Viola, the 25-year-old was understood to want to leave this summer, and the agreed deal will see him join Roberto De Zerbi’s side for fee close to double his his €10m market value, according to Transfermarkt.
With the Seagulls so far having been unable to sign last seasons impressive loanee Levi Colwill from Chelsea, they opted to pursue a deal for Igor as an alternative choice for the left sided centre-back role, which is understood to be their main priority this transfer window, as per The Athletic.
Albion’s pursuit of the 25-year-old comes after he made 42 appearances in all competitions for Vincenzo Italiano’s side last season, helping them achieve an eighth place finish in the Serie A and reach a Europa Conference League final, which they narrowly lost to David Moyes’ West Ham.
Igor’s impending arrival would be the fifth at The Amex Stadium this summer, with midfielders James Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud both joining on free transfers, whilst precocious goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen and talented striker João Pedro have both joined for €20m and €34m respectively.
