With the business end of the season fast approaching, Leeds United are in a strong position to secure their return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

The Whites have enjoyed an outstanding few months, winning 11 and drawing one of their last 12 league games, and they currently sit second in the table, one point clear of third-placed Ipswich Town.

With leaders Leicester City in FA Cup action this weekend, Leeds have the opportunity to go top of the table, and with significant momentum building up, they are looking difficult to stop at this point.

Manager Daniel Farke's full focus will be on leading his side to promotion, but it seems that the club have already started planning for next season, with Fenerbahce winger Bright Osayi-Samuel emerging on their radar.

Osayi-Samuel has previously played for Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers, and with speculation gathering pace about a potential return to English football, we rounded up all the latest news on his future.

Leeds United make £7 million bid

Leeds were linked with Osayi-Samuel in December, and they remain interested, with reports from Turkey claiming that the Whites have made a £7 million bid for the 26-year-old.

However, Fenerbahce have put talks over a possible move to Elland Road on hold until the summer as they battle fierce rivals Galatasaray for the title.

Despite being a winger by trade, Osayi-Samuel has been deployed at right-back for Fenerbahce this season, and he has scored three goals and provided four assists in 29 appearances in all competitions so far.

Osayi-Samuel's impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and Leeds could face competition for his signature, with Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers and French top flight side Rennes all said to be keen.

Osayi-Samuel wants Premier League move

Osayi-Samuel is likely to have no shortage of options this summer as he weighs up his future, and according to journalist Ben Jacobs, he would prefer to make a move to the Premier League, meaning Leeds may need to be promoted in order to win the race, and leaving Palace and Wolves in pole position to sign him.

"Leeds' interest has been historical, so it's no surprise if they return," Jacobs told Give Me Sport.

"The player, should he make a move, and England is somewhere that he would be prepared to entertain, would ideally be looking for Premier League football, from what I'm told anyway.

"So if Leeds are to reignite interest in a player that they've tracked before, then it would likely, given that there is other Premier League interest, be contingent on them getting promoted."

Pundit issues verdict on potential Leeds move

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, pundit Carlton Palmer backed Leeds' pursuit of Osayi-Samuel, and he believes the winger could be a good replacement for the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto, who could both depart this summer.

"Leeds, Crystal Palace, and Wolves are all enquiring about Fenerbahce's Osayi-Samuel," Palmer said.

"He previously featured in the EFL with QPR, who were disappointed to let him depart in 2021 to go to Turkey. He's then continued to play particularly well for Fenerbahce.

"With the futures of [Crysencio] Summerville and [Willy] Gnonto unclear at this moment in time, even if they get back to the Premier League there may be big offers for the pair, and Leeds may be forced to sell one or both.

"Bright-Osayi Samuel could be a good option, he can operate on both flanks and is very capable in the Championship, as was proven before.

"He's done very well at Fenerbahce, and Leeds are keeping tabs on him, so it'll be interesting to see.

"At the moment, Leeds are pushing hard for promotion to the Premier League, and should they get there, they will have a lot of work to do.

"If they don't? Summerville and Gnonto will leave, and Osayi-Samuel would be a good option for them in the Championship next season."
