Nottingham Forest have been dealt a blow in their preparations for their return to the Premier League with the news that goalkeeper Brice Samba intends to leave the club this summer.
That’s according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who reports on Tuesday that Samba is unhappy with the renewal terms being offered. The 28-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current deal and is said to have found the club’s latest offer unacceptable considering his achievements, importance and popularity at the City Ground.
Samba joined Forest from French club Caen in 2019 and made 45 appearances in all competitions last season. It was his heroics in the play-off semi-final penalty shoot-out with Sheffield United that took Steve Cooper’s side to Wembley, and he has become a firm fans’ favourite during his time at the club.
The former Le Havre and Marseille goalkeeper is understood to be reluctant to leave but unless he receives an offer he is happy with, the club may be forced to sell him this summer rather than risking the possibility of him leaving on a free transfer next summer.
