Brian Riemer, as reported by HLN, has stated that Kasper Schmeichel will be starting in goal for the upcoming game against Eupen. However, he did also add that this does not mean that the former Leicester City legend will be the sides number one going forward. The experienced Danish goalkeeper made his first start for Anderlecht in the sides 1-1 draw with Club Brugge last weekend. He replaced the sides other summer signing in Maxime Dupé.

Many did wonder when Schmeichel was signed how long it would take for him to replace Dupé. While the latter had not been convincing, there has been criticism of how the situation has been handled, especially when Dupé was brought in under the impression that he would be the number one for the season.

Despite a large overhaul of the squad over the summer, Anderlecht have had a solid start to the season. They currently sit fourth in the table with 15 points from their opening eight games. They are on a seven match unbeaten run, having only lost the opening game to Union St Gilloise, who are currently second after a dramatic win over RWDM.
