Another blow for Stade Brestois, who is struggling in this summer transfer window. According to L’Equipe, Belgian’s revelation Mathias Delorge (19) will stay in the Belgian Pro League, leaving KV Saint-Trond for KAA Gent.
One of Belgium’s most interesting talents last season, Delorge gathered interest from a lot of suitors around Europe, including Brest. Despite an historic qualification for the upcoming UEFA Champions League, the Brittany side is having trouble on the transfer market, with Julien Le Cardinal, loaned from Lens last season, being the only transfer so far. Les Ty Zéfs were confident in sealing the signature of Delorge, who had an outstanding season with Saint-Trond, playing 40 games across all competitions and logging one goal and four assists.
However, the Brittany side will have to set their sights on other profiles to strengthen their midfield. According to a report by L’Equipe, Delorge has refused to join Brest to remain in his native country, joining KAA Gent. Qualified for the playoffs of the UEFA Conference League, the Belgian outfit have found an agreement with Saint-Trond over a €3.5M deal, the same fee that Les Ty Zéfs submitted.
