Foot Mercato report this afternoon that Brest have reached an agreement on all fronts to sign Algeria striker Islam Slimani, who is currently under contract with Sporting CP until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old has agreed personal terms with the former Lyon and Monaco man, who returned to the Portuguese side on a free transfer earlier this year, his first spell in the capital coming between 2013 and 2016.

However, Slimani is giving himself some time to reflect on the potential move to Brittany before making his final decision, as he waits to see if other interested clubs – namely Nice – make a move as well.

The forward’s first foray into Ligue 1 action came with a loan deal at Monaco from Leicester. With the principality club, he scored nine goals in eighteen games before the season was cut short due to Covid-19, and the Monégasques decided not to make the move permanent. He then moved to Lyon, where he scored eight goals in 37 appearances for Les Gones, over the course of a season and a half.
